Insurgents launch a string of attacks on Ethiopian soldiers in Mogadishu, killing over 26 of the foreign forces trapped in mine fields.

A blast, the second such attack in almost 12 hours, hit an Ethiopian military convoy near Garas Baley in the south of Somalia's troubled capital.

The insurgents attack on three vehicles of Ethiopian forces left at least 26 dead and 38 more injured, Press TV correspondent in Somalia reported.

Following the severe explosion of one of the vehicles, the street was flooded with Ethiopian soldiers who checked civilian movements in the area.

Eyewitnesses said the Ethiopians enraged by the assault opened fire on a Somali military vehicle and killed four government soldiers.

In a separate land mine incident on Saturday some 12 Somali government troops were killed and 20 foreign soldiers were injured in Mogadishu.

Meanwhile, the road linking the capital and the town of Afgoye in its outskirts is riddled with land mines, planted in every 50 steps, with their remote controls in hands of Somali insurgents who are hunting Ethiopian convoys.
