(SomaliNet) Powerful Islamic Courts Union in Somalia warned on Saturday the UN relief agencies of using the airplanes from Ethiopia for their aid distribution in the flood hit areas in southern Somalia.

Sheik Mukhtar Robow known as ‘Abu-Mansur’ the deputy chief security of Islamic Courts said if the UN agencies charter Ethiopian airplanes it would be dangerous to the Somali community who had long been in trouble and now hit by the floods.

“The planes will definitely be exploring to the enemy of Somalia people which is Ethiopia,” Sheik Mansur said. “We will shot down any plane from Ethiopia which take part in the airlifting help because we see them as our enemy,”

He made it clear the Islamic Courts position towards any possible mission by the Ethiopian planes underscoring that the Islamic Courts would not accept that the aid agencies rent airplanes from Ethiopia for airlifting.

The comments by Sheik Mansur came after it emerged reports that UN aid agencies chartered planes owned by Ethiopian government in which the UN wanted to distribute aid supply through air in the areas hit by the floods made by the Shabeelle and Juba rivers.

It is the first time the Islamic Courts ban the UN aid organizations to use Ethiopian airplanes for delivering aid supply in southern Somalia

This indicates the deep hatred between Islamic Courts and Ethiopia.
