Ethio>>UK Ethiopian kidnap
The British Foreign Office has confirmed two bullet-riddled cars found in a remote Ethiopian village belonged to a group of Britons kidnapped last week.
It appears the vehicles were damaged by gunshot or shrapnel.
Five UK embassy staff and their relatives went missing while sightseeing with 13 Ethiopian drivers and translators in the Afar region, a barren expanse northeast of the capital.
British authorities say the kidnapping may be a case of mistaken identity.
Locals say they have seen and spoken to members of Britain's elite special operations forces in the region working to secure the release of the Britons.
The British Foreign Office has refused to comment on reports a possible military rescue operation is being planned.
