BAIDOA, Somalia Nov 21 (Garowe Online) - Heavy fighting erupted early Tuesday in parts of Bay region, where the interim Somali government is based.
Reliable sources have confirmed that the fighting was between a local pro-Islamic Courts militia in Idale town and allied Somali and Ethiopian troops.
Government sources in Baidoa said that the troops left last night and were ambushed by Somali militias in Idale but eventually took control of the town after reinforcements arrived.
Casualties on both sides have not been confirmed but witnesses reported that government troops aboard some 12 battlewagons took control of Idale town.
This was the third staged attack on Ethiopian troops inside Bay region in recent weeks.
